Forging

Forge & Forge uses drop forging method to form the metal. Unlike other methods, drop forging doesn't replace but rather reveals blacksmith's time honed method of heating, hammering and forming the metal - using improved technology, tools and machines. We are one of those blacksmiths that form everlasting metal pieces.

The drop forging method enables the metal piece to retain the inherent strength in its grain. We take specific advantage of the flow lines in the metal, directing it to the most highly stressed points of the piece.

Some of the advantages of forging are:

  • Best structural integrity & inherent high strength
  • Improved mechanical properties
  • Economical use of metals via minimal wastage
  • Viable method of forming critical materials
  • Forgings are more reliable as well as cheaper
  • Forgings accommodate the highest loads and stresses
  • Overall weight reduction without loss of strength
  • No hidden flows
  • No internal gas-pockets or voids that could cause unexpected failure under stress or impact
  • Improved chemical segregation of metal by moving centerline material to various locations throughout the forging
  • More resistance to impact and fatigue results into more component reliability
  • Combination parts can be forged in one step
  • Cost efficient to produce complex shapes
